Leadership Coachella Valley is a community leadership program designed to identify, motivate, and develop current and future leaders across the Coachella Valley. Over ten months, participants gain a deeper understanding of the issues, opportunities, and people shaping our region through immersive experiences, behind-the-scenes access, and conversations with community leaders. Along the way, they build lasting relationships and become part of a network committed to strengthening the Coachella Valley.

Each session explores a different aspect of the Coachella Valley, including government, public safety, healthcare, education, housing, economic development, environmental sustainability, arts and culture, communications, and more. Participants experience the valley through site visits, discussions with community leaders, interactive activities, and behind-the-scenes experiences designed to provide perspectives not typically available to the public.

The program consists of ten full-day sessions held monthly from September through June. Each session takes place at locations throughout the Coachella Valley that connect directly to the day’s topic, giving participants firsthand insight into the organizations, industries, and communities that shape our region.

Yes. While Leadership Coachella Valley is not a traditional leadership training program focused on public speaking or management techniques, participants strengthen their leadership through exposure to complex community issues, collaboration with classmates, thoughtful discussion, and meaningful connections with leaders from across the valley. The program is designed to broaden perspective, deepen civic understanding, and inspire greater community involvement.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have lived or worked in the Coachella Valley for a minimum of two years prior to applying.

Admission is competitive. Applicants are evaluated based on their demonstrated leadership potential, community involvement, professional experience, commitment to active participation, and interview. Leadership Coachella Valley seeks to build a diverse class representing a broad range of industries, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives from across the Coachella Valley.

Because Leadership Coachella Valley is an immersive experience, participants are expected to attend every session. A maximum of 16 hours of absence is permitted during the program. Consistent attendance is essential to receiving the full benefit of the experience and successfully completing the program.

Tuition is $1,500 per participant and includes all program sessions, educational materials, tours, site visits, meals, refreshments, and graduation.

A non-refundable $250 deposit is due prior to the Welcome Reception, with the remaining balance due before the second session.

Yes. Many participants receive financial support from their employer as an investment in their professional growth and community leadership. Participants are also welcome to pay their own tuition.

A limited number of scholarships are available each year based on demonstrated financial need and available funding. Applicants requesting scholarship assistance must submit a letter explaining their need as part of the application process.

Graduation is just the beginning. Alumni become part of a growing network of community leaders who continue to build relationships, attend special events, mentor future participants, volunteer with the program, and remain engaged in strengthening the Coachella Valley.
